Saturday morning, 6am, we leave Allen and head for DFW... we have a long day ahead of us but what awaits us on the other side of this long day makes it all worth while.
We depart Dallas at 845am and fly to Detroit. After a layover in Detroit that is just long enough to eat lunch and pee...we head to Amsterdam. The great thing about this particular route is that we fly over Greenland. I have done it twice before and cannot wait for the girls to see it. It amazes me how much of Greenland you can actually see from the plane. Looking at your plane window as we pass across this frozen land is surreal...makes you want to write poetry or something. It just looks so quiet down....so untouched.
We land in Amsterdam at 6:00am Sunday (Europe time) and have about an hour to get to our final gate where we will depart for Copenhagen around 7ish....our arrival time in Køberhavn is 9:15am.
The hardest part will be waiting for our baggage...knowing Mads is on the other side of the wall, waiting for us! That is the only thing I hate about that airport...you cannot see the people waiting for you until AFTER baggage claim... UGH! The waiting is so CRUEL!
I have the car just about loaded with our bags-- all I am missing at this point is Jess and Danielle's--which they will load tonight after they get off work. We each have one suitcase of our very WARM CLOTHES and European style boots :o) and then we have three "other" bags..... And every one is maxed out at the 23 kilos apiece. (sounds like we are drug traffikers, I know!)
We will post our first blog entry sometime Sunday afternoon with our pictures of our departure-- as I am sure that the girls will be snapping all kinds of shots!
And then I promise to update each day through Thursday. But once Friday the 23rd arrives, I may be a little too busy to sit and post! Since I am getting married and all!
I hope you all have a wonderful restful weekend that you enjoy hearing about our journey to Denmark... I am excited to have Danielle join us on this trip...not only is this her first trip to Europe, but she is the one who on Sunday, October 15, 2006 sent Jess a text message that said "Hey, you and your mom come eat dinner with us..we have these guys staying with us from Europe"...........the rest is history!!

I will be thinking about you two all week!!! I am so happy for you both and know that you cannot wait to start this part of your new adventure! "Way to go, Kelli!" Of course that is my "Officer and a Gentlemen" redo, but I think it works!!
My heart goes out to you both and wish you both much joy and happiness!! :)
I love flying over Greenland too!!! It is so pretty looking from the air.
I LOVE Schiphol airport! I know you only have an hour there, but it is probably my second favorite airport. Kastrup is #1 hands down :)
Has Mads ever gone to the windows in the Starbucks where you can see into the baggage claim to look for you? When Michael came back from Japan we were dorks and I had coffee and sat at the window and he came over and we texted each other through the glass while he waited for his luggage.
Hav en god rejse og vi ses på Lørdag!!!
