Yesterday I took a trip to Århus on the train...alone! My girlfriend, Paula, from Mørke, and I planned to meet for lunch in Århus and a tour of the city. Because Århus is 85km west from Herning, riding my bike was not an option, so I bought a train ticket! My goal was to get to Århus, to meet Paula and arrive back home without getting lost and without people thinking I was not Danish!
God nyheder..... alting arbejdede PERFEKT! Det regnede hele dag, men vi havde en vidunderlig tid....frokost, handler, kaffe med kage, og besøger! Hun viste til mig MANGE TING i Århus: en Asian købmandsforretning hvor jeg fandt "BLACK EYED PEAS", en bog butik hvilken kun salger brugte bøger på Engelsk, den Dansk Kvinders museum, den ECCO SKO butik og Magasin (hvor jeg købte en ny regn frakke)! Det var en dejlig dag... og jeg især elskede min tog tur tilbage hjem fordi kigger ud vinduet viste til mig igen, hvor FLOT Danmark er!
Good news....everything worked PERFECTLY! It rained the whole day, but we had a wonderful time...lunch, shopping, coffee with cake, and visiting! She showed me MANY THINGS i Århus: an Asian grocery store where I found BLACK EYED PEAS, a book store that only sells used books in English, the Danish Women´s museum, the ECCO Shoe store, and Magasin (where I bought a new raincoat!) It was a great day... and I especially loved my train trip back home because looking out the window showed me again, how BEAUTIFUL Denmark is!

Trains in Denmark are unbelievably expensive! I think it costs (only) 150 kr one way from Copenhagen to Aarhus

I remember when I rode the train in Germany all by myself...first to Dresden, and then to Bielefeld. I found it so relaxing! I can't wait to come and see you and ride the trains all over the place!
222 DKK is actually a fair price for a return ticket to Århus... If Kelli had to take the car insted, then it would have been more expencive in gas and parking. The gas prices is close to $10/gal and in my car that would have been 4 gal. and then the parking in Århus is VERY expencive too ... $20-25 for a day! So all in all that would have cost Kelli arond $60 to ride the car, where the train "only" is around $45 and more convenient, because the train stops in the heart of Århus. What can I say ... Kelli is married to a banker! LOL :o)
The 150 DKK that was mentioned on the Blog from Copenhagen to Århus by train is very cheap! There is something we call "Orange tickets" ... You get a very cheap ticket, but it is only surten trian rids that you can take for that price - usually early in the morning og late night.
I was also going to mention the 222 dkk!! That seems like a lot for an hour ride!
Arhus looks pretty. Can't wait to see it with my own eyes one day. Glad you had a fun day on your first solo excursion!
Yes I was talking about DSB Orange, apparently it's "only" for train between Sjælland, Fyn and Jylland (a.k.a. long journey train).
But I still find it expensive for a one hour train ride. Jayzus, this is one of the reason I don't want to live in Jutland LOL
