Min indlæringer ... My learnings

I am learning many things every day in Denmark. Some things, I learn quickly while others take a little more time.

I read in Danish everyday. I bring a Danish magazine with me everywhere I go, just in case I have time to read (I learned this from Uncle Pat!). A great magazine for women is "ALT", but it comes once a week and I cannot read it in only 7 days!

Min abonnement er til: Instead, I found a good magazine which comes once a month and I bought a subscription. I need the whole month to read it because I read EVERY WORD on EVERY PAGE....including the ads. I believe this is the BEST practice for my Danish because it is about actual things in normal conversation. My subscription is to:

og hver side ligner denne efter jeg slutter det: and every page looks like this after I finish it:

Yesterday I decide to try something more difficult than my magazine because I LOVE to read....(it is my most fave thing...more than shoe shopping!) so I bought a fave book (and a new pair of shoes, too!) to bring with me on the plane this weekend:

Men min ny bog er PÅ DANSK!! But my new book is IN DANISH!

Nu, tænker I jeg er meget smart??!! VENTE!
Now, you think I am smart, huh??!! Because remember, some things I cannot learn very quickly.... so I must make clues to help me! Mads decided to take a picture of a clue I made for the car. He said, "I MUST show this to Shelly!"

:o) In Denmark, the law says you must have your car´s lights on all the time. Well, en 1994 Honda´s lights don´t come on automatically. You must turn on the lights yourself and I cannot remember to do it...so I wrote a card to help me remember because I do not want a fine from the police! Mads laughed about it because it is so big... and I am sure Shelly and Jess will laugh too! :o)

Men, huske... min PhD er næsten færdig og jeg kan læse Sex and the City på Dansk!!! LOL But remember... my PhD is almost finished and I can read Sex and the City in Danish!! LOL

I like that magazine a lot!! They always have the latest issue at the gym so I can read it there with my coffee if I finish before Michael.

Your "Lights" reminder is hilarious. I love it.

It's very good practice...how did you manage to have a tutor in Texas? I'm starting to watch the TV series now, which I know I'm very late to do so. I will write down a review once I finish it.

Lights, camera, action... Kelli's on a roll in Denmark!! Don't worry about the "Lights" sign in the car... I have one too but for the opposite reason. Newer cars beep when you leave the lights on like my Mustang... but my 87 Jeep Wrangler doesn't. So instead of returning to a dead battery, I placed a Lights sign in my Jeep.

A Lights sign is better than a fine or dead battery any day! :-)

Hilarious! It is so bizarre to see the speedometer with kilometers instead of miles.... I'd be the slowest driver in DK, because I'd always think I was speeding!!

I'm so behind again but now I'm here to catch up!

I hope I've told you this before: I'm continuously amazed by how comitted you are to learning Danish. To a slacker like me you're an inspiration!

When we meet next Friday, I hope you'll tell me about your PhD. I hadn't heard about that until now.

I think it is time I copy your idea. I love magazines, and have a pile of Danish ones my bf's sister has given me. Thanks for the inspiration! I hope I am not driving you nuts with all of my comments :)
