Vores ny seng er vidunderlig og meget behagelig! Nu kun vi har brug for den sort seng "nederdel" jeg købte på den internet og sendte til Jess så hun bringer det til Danmark i tre uger!
Last weekend we bought a new bed. I learned many things about beds and sheets and pillows and how the beds in Denmark are very different from the beds in America! The bed Mads had was OK, but we agreed we wanted a new bed...as comfortable as the bed I had before I moved! So it was time to shop (and remember NOT to think in American dollars! I must think in kroner!) The beds in Denmark are not "king" or "queen" or "double!... instead they are called by what size they are (ie: 140cm long by 200cm wide). Also, you buy two little beds to make one big bed and it is not common to have a headboard or footboard, only mattresses. ALSO you do not buy flat sheets to cover with, only the fitted sheet to lay on! ALSO the pillows are usually square, not rectangular! And when you buy things for your bed, you do not buy a blanket or a comforter. Instead, you buy a "Summer Cover" and a "Winter Cover". I am learning.... :o)
Our new bed is wonderful and so very comfortable! Now we only need the black bed skirt I bought online and shipped to Jess so she is bringing it to Denmark in three weeks!

Fetching pic of Mads. If you ever move back to the states, he can be the spokesman for Mattress Giant!!
I started ditching my top sheet a few weeks ago. Figured washing the duvet cover was easier and now I don't get all tangled up in fabric when I sleep!
So do you have a king sized bed, then? Is that extra thing on top like an egg crate? Very Princess and the Pea!! ROFL!
hahaha, I loved this post! It really reminded me of my surprise with bedcovers and fittings as well. I think we follow the American system quite closely. So both of us have spiffy bedrooms now. Its hilarious how it happened at the exact same time.
I don't understand why they put two beds together. When Kenneth went to buy the mattress I had to approve them before hand. I can't figure out which size is right...since I alreay have fitted sheets for a Queen size. I think he eventually about a Queen size bed. It's so difficult to understand how the bedroom works in DK. Anyway, we'll go shopping at Ikea for bedroom stuff.
Mads should model beds professionally. I hear the Price is Right is looking for some new 'Carey Cuties'...and what with affirmative action and all, I bet it's about time for the show to hire a Danish man.
Wow, the new bed looks great. We hope it is as comfortable as it looks. We so enjoy reading about your experiences. You are lucky to have family in both places who love you! (But then, we guess you know that, already.) We hope your interview went well.
That bed looks really comfortable. congrats on the new addition to your household!
The size thing confused me for a while, as like in the US, we do the single, double, queen, king bit. Consequently, I wasn't sure what I was getting us into - except that it was two singles joined together with a couple of one piece mattressy things to go on top. The finished result was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and so big, I often forget I am sleeping with someone else!
I despise our Danish bed! Unfortunately, we can not afford a new one right now. Every single night, as I crawl under my single sized duvet, and lay my head on my squishy square pillow, I wish I had my old, amazing bed back!
