Mads and I went to IKEA yesterday in search of several smalls things for the house. (Of course, I had a list!) My mom and dad are coming to Denmark three weeks from this Friday, so we want to get everything ready for their arrival. IKEA is a great place to find house things that are good and cheap, but yesterday, IKEA became my new favorite place... because I found something I have wanted since I moved to Denmark. Something I used EVERYDAY in America. Something I was "addicted to". Something everyone told me you cannot find in Denmark.

SCENTED CANDLES! When we came home, Mads and Albert went on a walk, and I immediately lit them all! When they came back, he said, "It smells like your apartment in Texas in here. I had forgotten how much I like this smell!" VANILLA HAS COME TO HARALDSGADE 1, and I am one happy woman!

WHOO HOO!! I was at IKEA on Friday and found them too! I was shocked SHOCKED!!
Enjoy your vanilla smelling home!!
I dunno about the grammatical rule but I think people usually associate the verb "at lugte" with something bad smelling while the verb "at dufte" is the one with the good smelling, like lugter grimt, dufter godt etc :)
Hej Kelli,
De lys har været i Danmark i lang tid. Det sidste nye er duft-lys lavet på massage-olie. Skøn en kold vinterdag at blive masseret med den lune, duftende olie.

It is so funny that Mads remembers how your apartment smelled because I do, too. Your sofa smelled like it for the LONGEST time and it was WONDERFUL.
The only smell I remember coming from Kelli's apartment was the smell of beer and rice krispy treats...:D
Nettie - don't give all all of the secrets of Kelli's life in Texas. "Porch nights" are some of her most treasured memories. I know she misses you!
Good old IKEA - it has most things for most people!
