Hukommelser af en "skoleinspektor/mor"... Memories of a "principal/mom"

I have worn many hats in my life...
I am a mom, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a student, and an educator.
This week, I have realized how much I miss my "educator hat"...

As you know, Jess changed her school this year because she moved to her dad´s house. Although she lives in another town, she keeps contact with her friends in Allen and visits them often. In fact, last weekend, she went to Allen because it was "Homecoming Weekend" and Jess planned to go with her group of friends from her five years in Allen. We bought her dress, shoes and the accessories in Chicago, but I was excited to see it all put together. Jess sent me the pics from their weekend, and when I opened them, the tears came.... First, my "mom hat" made the tears come because I am so proud of my BEAUTIFUL, SMART, INCREDIBLE daughter. And second, I looked at the teenagers who I have had a little part of raising, as their principal, and as Jess´ mom. I am so thankful that I was lucky enough to be in their lives for a few years...And I am especially thankful I have a daughter who "shared" me with other teens who needed me!

This week, I received, as "the former principal", GREAT NEWS from my most fave student of all time, Chad! He is coming to Denmark in January!! I knew he applied for a "study abroad" grant in August because I had helped him with the essay for the application, and when we found out he had received the approval, I was SO EXCITED! Now, Mads and our friends are helping Chad to find an apartment because he will live in Copenhagen from January until June!! I told him he will be my first "former student" I can buy a CELEBRATION BEER for when he arrives!!

Even thought my principal days are done, I still have many many "kids" in my heart and I am pretty sure they will stay there for many more years.

I'm sure you were a great, loving, caring, and fun principal. I so can tell that you love all your students:)

Your daughter looked so stunning...what a beautiful young lady. Everybody looked so pretty in the pictures.

The rent in CPH is so expensive...I hope Chad can find a reasonable accodomation in the city.

Oh, Kelli, Sharon had no idea just how far reaching her teacher days were. It seems like a weekly occurance when someone from her teaching days slips back into her life. Today, it was the mother of one of our students at Polk. Yesterday, it was the mother of a student in her classroom back in the early 1980's. He is now a doctor and the director of a medical facility here. Her heart and her smile just beamed with pride. She even corresponds with a former student from the 1960's. Have a great time when your former student comes to Denmark.

Hey! Copenhagen rent is down 25 percent from just four years ago, and student rent is really cheap. Finding an apartment shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's always exciting when people you know hop the pond! We'll be moving to Copenhagen this summer because I'll be studying there for a semester and then writing my thesis, so commuting from Lund won't make sense any more.

Well, all mothers think their children are beautiful but in this instance, you're not imagining it!

That's great news about you former student - what a buzz - especially when you consider you're some of the reason he's actually come to be able to get here.

Jess, as always, is so beautiful! It is great she is still able to go back to Allen to participate in some big events and hang out with her friends.

How cool that a former student is coming to Denmark!! I imagine you being able to tell and teach him many things about Denmark will be extra special for you.

Jessica is absolutely precious! Is Chad's mom the teacher at AHS? That will be fun to see him....
