Today was a good day. In fact, today was a wonderful day because Christmas has come to the Nørgaard House! I had so many good things happen today....from the first thing this morning until now, as I sit in our living room, surrounded by Christmas things! Our day began with a Nørgaard breakfast at my inlaw´s house. All of the "Jutland Nørgaards" came together and after we had eaten a delicious breakfast, we loaded up the cars and drove to the Christmas tree farm. I LOVE CHRISTMAS, and I have been so happy in Texas with my artificial Christmas tree, but what I have experienced today has given me another reason to love Chr
istmas. Look.

The entire family has a perfect time as we look for "the perfect Christmas tree". Rebecca´s friend, Trine, joins us, and everyone has a good laugh as my brother in law, Mogens, is certain that since he is a Viking, no tree is too big!
(dreje dit hoved så du kan se... turn your head so you can see! )
After we had bought the Christmas trees, Mads and I and my inlaws drove to the forest to find things that we could use to decorate the house for Christmas. Also, on Thursday, I am going to a Christmas Craft Class with my mom in law and sister in law at the local garden center, so we looked for things that we can bring to our class. I have never "picked up" things from the forest like that before..... It was such a cozy thing to do... We found moss, pine cones, branches, heather and other things that my mom in law knew about. While we hunted for things, Mads and Albert ran through the forest. Albert ran like a rabbit, hopping over the small hills... I have never seen him so happy to be outside before! He loved to be in the forest with the cold air and wet moss everywhere!
allerede brugt mange ting for at begynde vores Julepynt i huset.
Things I picked up in the forest... and I have already begun to use many things to start our Christmas decorations in the house.
I hope this is a tradition that we do every Christmas because it was a very special time with my Danish family! Next--Decorating the Tree!

Looks so cozy!!! Yeah, I have thought about trying to make my own garland also...just haven't gotten that far, you've inspired me to go out around my house and find stuff also...Is the woods far from your house? Perhaps this is where you should take Albert when you want to do something special for him since he loves it so much!
How do you do the video thing? I just figured out music on my site yesterday...learning slowly!
Can't wait to see your tree decorated..bet it will be lovely!!
There are woods ALL OVER Jutland....
but since we live in Herning (a good sized city), we have to drive about ten minutes to get to the real Forest! Mads´ mom and I have taken many walks through so many different forests...she knows so much about the things we see! I am just amazed!
Haha, stay tuned for a post on my christmas preparations in Jutland. . . it will look very familiar to you since I did the same thing last weekend!
Wow - that looks like great fun! The Scandinavians are so very good about picking things in forests and then using them in clever ways.
Awesome. I know how much you have been looking forward to getting your own Christmas tree since last Christmas when Mads wrote a post about it. I'm sure it was even more spectacular than you had envisioned. Glad you had fun and are learning how to use the forest to decorate for Christmas. :)
Wow, that really looks like something we would have enjoyed doing in our younger years. You are so very lucky to have found such happiness in Denmark. Happy Holidays to you!
This looks so fun! I wish there was a forest somewhere near our house.
