Omkring juletræet .... Around the Christmas tree

En billedetur af vores første dansk jul....

We go to church to begin Christmas Eve (and I actually understood about 80% of everything the priest said!)

Næste---Traditionel Julemad hos Trine og Mogens. And, Flæskesteg, brune Kartofler og Rødkål. Jessica prøver alting og kan lidt alle!!
Next--Traditional Danish Christmas dinner at Trine and Mogens´. Duck, Roasted Pork, Brown Potatoes in a sugar glaze and Red Cabbage. Jessica tries it all and actually likes everything!

Kasper does not like to sit at the table for such a long time... he is ready for the Christmas tree!

After dinner, the Julemand comes with gifts for all the children....even the big kids!

Tid for dessert...Ris ala mand med kirsebær sauce.
Time for dessert...Rice pudding with warm cherry sauce. One lucky person will find an almond in his rice pudding and will get a prize!

After dessert, we chat with my parents, niece and nephew on Skype. Then, we leave Skype on while we walk and sing around the Christmas tree so my family can see us celebrating a Danish Christmas!

Tid for julegaver.... Time for presents....

og Albert får en gave også......... Dengang, viser Emma os hendes nye princesse tøj at hun fik!
and Albert even has a gift to open...... Then Emma shows us her new princess clothes that she received!

Thank you for the Christmas gifts.... and thank you to the Nørgaards for a wonderful, cozy, first Danish Christmas!

Her i Californien var vi i biografen og se "Marley and Me."

Enough in Danish, which I never really learned how to write, since I only spent my summer holidays in Denmark as a child.

I'm shocked at how excellent your Danish is after (only one year in Denmark?)

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas! Looks fun! We got up at 5 am on Christmas Eve as the kids were sooo excited! We don't wait until the evening to open presents, but open them in the morning...

Hope you all have a lovely time!

Hi Kelli !
Well your Christmas looks exactly how my mother describes Christmas in Herning 40 years ago! The only thing that has changed is the new technology of Skype ! She often tells of the christmas she realized the julemand was actually her mother ! (she could tell by her hand when she took off a glove) My favorite part of dinner is the red cabbage - yum !
Happy Christmas ! (it's really snowing today, I'm going to try to update my blog with photos as soon as I figure out Paige's new MP3 player)
