En tale, fyrværkeri og ristet brød .... A speech, fireworks and dry toast

I missed my first New Years Eve in Denmark. I was so excited to celebrate the New Year, Danish-style, but my body had other ideas. Many people throughout Midtjylland have been sick with a terrible stomach virus, including my husband last weekend.... and yesterday, unfortunately, it was my turn. So my New Years Eve consisted of 3 things---the Queen´s annual speech, enough fireworks outside my bedroom window to sound like I was in the middle of 1992s Bosnia, and 2 pieces of dry toast. And although I was sick, 2009 arrived anyway. But the good news is that I arrived in 2009, 4 kilos lighter....since I lost 4 kilos in 24 hours.....So my New years resolution is "Don´t gain those 4 kilos back!!!" Happy New Year from Denmark! Next year, I will experience New Year´s Eve, Danish Style!

Oh dear - poor you! What a terrible way to show in the New Year... (The bad news is that most of that weight is water loss...)

Make sure you drink lots of water today and take it easy.

Thank goodness you weren't sick when Jess was over!

Hope you get better soon. I never manage to lose weight when sick.

Poor thing!!
Good that you had Mads by your side. The Queen's speech is the core of the New Year celebrations with fireworks included so you did get to participate, in a way.

Kelli, we are sorry to hear that you got sick on New Year's Eve. What a bummer! You are right. Time marches on whether we are aware or not. Happy New Year! We loved the pram story and pictures. It may be a small world, but we are so far apart in many ways.

I hope you & Mads get better soon! Or if Mads is better (after you took care of him last week), I hope he's taking good care of you. :-)

That reminds me of the cute saying of the Danes: '. til gengæld..'

"I had a stomach bug, 'men til gengæld' I lost 4 kilos!'

I hope you feel better soon, but in a way, it sounded like the best possible way to enter a new year, cleaned out and lighter :)

We have had a lot of hungover people staggering past our house today in effort to walk off the excess of last night. THAT is a terrible way to begin afresh!

Sorry to hear you are sick. I went to bed at 10:30 last night because I was just plain tired. How lame is that?

Oh man, that doesn't sound like a pleasant way to spend the New Year! If I remember correctly you had plans and everything. That will just make next new years that much more exciting for you :)

Get well soon!
