I miss 3 things. Little things. Unimportant things. But all three are things that I get completely excited about when we travel to the US or another country. Today we are flying to London and I can experience ALL THREE for 4 days! Remember--they are little things, but sometimes little things can make a big difference!
1. My favorite shoes are flip flops. I would wear them every day if I could...but in Denmark I cannot wear them for about 6 months so I get pretty excited when we travel to a country that has warmer temps than we do! So you can bet that a pair of flip flops are in my suitcase! (Now I just need a pedi!!!!)
2. I love the hotel that Mads got for our stay in London. It is on the Thames river and has a great view of the London Eye, but it has one thing that is even BETTER than a great view...

....et bad!!!! Jeg prøver meget hårdt at blive GRØN men sommetider savner jeg har et bad SÅ MEGET! Måske vil jeg tage 2 bade om dagen imens vi er i London!
....a bathtub!!!! I try so hard to be GREEN but something I really miss having a tub! Maybe I will take 2 baths a day while we are in London!

3. I miss Starbucks more than I thought I would.... I used to go to Starbucks every single day and when I walked in, it was like the TV Show "Cheers" but instead of shouting "Norm", they said "Kelli!" We have 2 Starbucks in Denmark....both in the Copenhagen airport....I miss the seasonal drinks that Jess and I looked so forward to...
Jeg savner meget "to go" kaffe som er tilgængelig fra kl. 5 til kl. 24, 7 dage om ugen. Jeg elsker sort kaffe men sommetider tørster en pige efter en "vente non-fat cinnamon dolce latte"....
I really miss "to go" coffee that is available from 5am to midnight, 7 days a week. I love black coffee but sometimes a girl craves a "vente non-fat cinnamon dolce latte"....

GUESS WHAT?! There are NINE STARBUCKS within a 1 mile radius of our hotel in London!!! How many times do you think we will frequent SB in 4 days?
I know they are small things... silly things...but all 3 put a smile on my face!

And its English speaking! Im going to London in 2 weeks with Thomas' family. Its a birthday present from Thomas' parents for my 30th birthday. Indian food and the English language is the best thing London has to offer to me!
I hope you have a BLAST! Can't wait to see the pictures & get the details!
The hotel looks fantastic! And a bath! Oh.. baths...
I'll admit it, I am jealous!!!
Oh for a bathtub!!! Oh for a day in an English speaking country!! Who would I speak to first? And would they ever shut me up?
Have a great time Kelli, and don't mind us *sniff* with our crappy little shower cubicles....
I haven't had a pedicure since I've been here. Not so much that we couldn't get one if I wanted, but that I haven't needed one since...no reason to wear sandals yet! I can't wait until I get to the States in a few weeks, it will be one of my first orders of businesss...and a Starbucks chai.
@ Paula - god yes, the indian food! I told my husband that when we go we MUST go to at least one Indian food restaurant. He laughed at me. Until his curry came. Oh bliss!
I love London. I love the tube and I love the British Museum and I REALLY love the Museum of London. We've been invited to a wedding in August in Cambridge and I'm completely and utterly psyched. Especially since it means NOT flying through Heathrow. Heathrow is right up next to Frankfurt as airports I really hate being in.
@ Kelli - oh BATH!! And hey, tats on the feet, OUCH!
Do I see tats on the footsies ??
I understand about the flip flops....although around here I run around barefoot. My excuse?...Because Im from Texas !
Make sure you have candles for those long baths.
Also...my Starbucks is less than a block from our house. From now on, everytime I go there, I will raise my cup in the air and say... " This one is for Kelli, the flip flop, bath loving future Dr."
You and Mads have a wonderful time in London...ya hear?!!!
It's so strange with the bathtubs. Apart from when I was a student, I've always lived in apartments or houses with bathtubs. There was one here too when we moved it, but it was unfortunately too disgusting to use, so we had to change it, but I soak 1-2 a month now, to compensate I try not to linger in the shower. :)
How big is your bathroom? If there's space you could consider installing a tub.
Have a blast and hope you get lots and lots of Starbucks and tons of time to wear those flip flops!!!
I had to laugh about the bathtub.. there I was thinking you would go all starry-eyed about the view of the London Eye!
Have a great time!
You don't have a tub?! Enjoy your trip. Sounds heavenly.
I'm going home to California (from central California, by Fresno) to get ready for The Wedding. I'll be home for six weeks, woot! I'm looking forward to driving my car and Mexican food!
We live on the outskirts of Oslo. It's nice to be away from the center yet just a short tram ride away! If you guys stay over in Oslo on your trip, you should let us know!
Maybe you could take a bath, with a starbucks in in your hand and flip flops on your feet. That would be really decadent!
Oh girl, I envy you!
Actually, we're going to London on the 23rd. Know what I miss? I miss seeing people on the subways who read actual novels!
And I spy with my eye the Marriott. Is that where you're staying? If so, sweeeeeeeet!
God, enjoy Starbucks. Do you know they have a revolutionary-sounding instant coffee, no less? I'm definitely stocking up on dark roasts when I'm there, as nothing here is as dark as I require.
Have a great trip. God, I am excited for you and I don't even know you. :-)
That is so funny - you are hilarious! My mum says that when she moved from Denmark to Canada she couldn't believe she could have her very own bathtub, it was such a luxury and she would never take it for granted - she has a bath EVERY single night!
Tina
Awesome hotel!!
Archeogoddess - you've left time in your schedule to visit the Fitzwilliam Museum I hope?
Kelli - don't miss the curry, but also don't miss the Italian food, if that's your bag. In London, they have Italians to cook Italian food. In provincial Denmark the pizzas are usually of Turkish or Pakistani origin. So why aren't there are any decent Turkish or Pakistani restaurants around? It's one of Denmark's great mysteries.
I found this site using google.com And i want to thank you for your work. You have done really very good site. Great work, great site! Thank you!
