Mads and I have talked about what type of car we would like to buy in the future after our 1994 Honda dies. Everything is dependent on whether or not we have a baby in the next year, but if we do not get pregnant, I would really like to buy a SMART CAR . I have read about them for many years and think I would really like one.
Mads agrees with me that the SMART CAR is a great, green car...especially if we buy the electric model... However I think it is necessary that I am very specific about WHICH type of electric car I would like to have after I saw this electric car in Ringkøbing last week....
"Bilen" er perfekt for den søde bedstefar som kørte den men jeg synes at jeg vil gerne have en bil som er lidt større! :o) Når min far bekymrer om mig i en lille SMART CAR, kan han huske denne bil og ser hvor STOR en SMART CAR faktisk er!!!
The "car" is perfect for the sweet grandpa that was driving it, but I think I need something just a little bit bigger! :o) So when my dad gets worried about me in such a little SMART CAR, he can remember this car and see how BIG a SMART CAR REALLY is!!!

We have some tiny electric cars here, too! They're so funny, but you stop laughing when you see two of them piggy-backing in a parking spot. They seem to be great city cars.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! This would be like a covered bike...so it depends on how Danish you'd like to be...hahahaha...it would be a bit small for me also I think...
You can still find green cars even if you get a baby...many new cars are better then the older ones...
I'm hoping for the baby in the picture....
Aren't those just the cutest little cars? We have several cruising around town. There's also a variation of the vehicle in which the 'shell' comes off when it's nicer weather.
Do you think the yellow pouch is a parachute to slow him down when he goes to fast?
Come on now - I'd LOVE to see you tooling around town in one of those! Do they take the bike lane or the real road?
And.. C and H just totally cracked me up with the parachute comment!
This guy was in the bike lane...and going about the same speed as the scooters do (but he was also going UPhill!)...and I love the parachute idea!LOL I had no clue what that little pouch was for!!!
Great car and its more useful.Strutmasters are Lincoln suspension experts. Plus they’re one of the good guys who offer genuine low prices on high quality suspension parts.
I could not imagine taking that across the street, let alone across town! I have a picture of one of those from Denmark. Emma called it a funny little car.
Great post, Kelli!
I guess the only way to make that car more environmentally friendly is to make the driver pedal inside the car (i.e. Flintstones) lol
I had a VW Lupo 3L for a while. Wonderful car. Like driving a computer, but you could drive to Copenhagen and back on one tank of diesel. We couldn't afford the payments though, so we sold it and bought our gas guzzling Volvo stationwagon. We just don't drive it all that often. And I love my Volvo. It's a big old family car that just begs for you to have three kids and a pack of dogs. Or three dogs and a pack of kids, depending on where you buckle them in. HA!
When Lori and I went to lunch at Elke's last week, I parked next to a Smart Car and of course stopped to stare at the inside of it once I got out of my own car. I am not sure I'd feel safe in a smart car. Not much to protect you from the other cars on the road but then again, DK is more environmentally conscious than the US and you probably don't have people in DK driving the Ford Valdez or whatever their biggest car is called. The car you posted pics of would scare the crap out of me to drive; I'd have to have a handful of Xanax before I got behind the wheel.
I think the pouch may be the dude's backpack which cannot fit INSIDE the car ?!? Or a bumper -- HA!
It looks like you'd almost have to stand in that tiny car to fit -- it's so tiny!
Smart cars are adorable. I heard you can get interchangeable color panels for fresh new looks!
Could you imagine seeing something like that on 75! haha.
I've been surprised to see how many smart cars there are over here in the states since we left. They are such cute little cars.... but would be way too small for us. It's important we can fit suitcases in our car. ;)
I was wondering about the yellow thing also - I'm pretty sure there are pedals in side to make this car run. I don't think we could drive something that small in Texas - the SUVs would run over us.
Maybe you should get one of these

GM and Segway just introduced a prototype.
I loooove the Smart Cars! So dang cute. I yell every time I see one in Seattle. I've heard that they (the version of the Smart that's sold here in the states) handle badly (turning radius, etc.), and have terrible gas mileage. Supposedly the version sold in Europe gets much better gas mileage. :) At least this was all true when I was researching them a couple of years ago.
