Da vi tog til Rebild Festival i går, var jeg sikker på at jeg ville "vinde for de meste flag" men Rebild var BESTEMT vinderen!!
When we went to the Rebild Festival yesterday, I was certain that I would "win the prize for the most flags", but Rebild was DEFINITELY the winner!
Den første ting vi set da vi ankom i Rebild byen var "en 57 Chevy" og det amerikanske flag!
The first thing we saw when we arrived in the town of Rebild was a 57 Chevy and the American flag!
Før vi tog til festival, havde vi en hyggelig picnic i skyggen (som var den eneste skygge i hele dag!)
Before we went into the festival, we had a hyggelig picnic in the shade (which was the only shade for the rest of the day!)

På stien til festival, stå alle 50 staters flag....og du ved hvilket flag er den bedste....

Albert kan ikke tro vejret! Han var sikker på at han var i Texas i stedet for Danmark! Høj sol, 32 grader og ingen vind....
Albert cannot believe the weather! He was certain that he was in Texas instead of Denmark! High sun, 90 degrees, and no wind....
Victor Borges datter gav den amerikanske hovedtale som var en perfect forbindelse imellem Danmark og Amerika siden hendes far var en berømt dansker som flyttede til USA under verdens anden krig og boede i Amerikan resten af hans liv. Vidste du at Victor Borge sagde det berømte citat: "Den kortest afstand imellem 2 mennesker er et smil."
Victor Borge´s daughter gave the American speech which was a perfect connection between Danmark and America since her father was a famous Dane who moved to the US during WW2 and lived there the rest of his life. Did you know that Victor Borge is the one who said this famous quote: "The shortest distance between two people is a smile."
Rebildfest inkluderede taler, musik, underholdning, og danser, men delen som jeg vil huske de meste er da jeg stå i Rebild Bakker, men mit hånd på min hjerte og sang "The Star Spangled Banner" sammen med andre amerikansker som bor i Danmark og med dansker også. Jeg er meget stolt af at være en ameriansk og jeg er meget stolt af at bo i et land som fejrer de meste vigtig dag i amerikansk histori.
Rebild Festival included speeches, music, entertainment, and dancing, but the part I will remember the most was when I stood there on Rebild Hill, hand on my heart, and sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" together with other Americans living in Denmark and with Danes as well. I am so proud to be an American, and I am very proud to live in a land which celebrates the most important day in American history.
Vi har bestemt at Rebildfest vil være en årslig tradition i Nørgaard familie og det tror jeg at alle Amerikanske som bor i Danmark skulle tage hvert år også! Vi er heldig at have mennesker i vores nye land som synes at den 4. juli er værd fejrer!
We have decided that Rebild Festival will be an annual tradition for the Nørgaard family, and I believe that all Americans who live in Denmark should go each year as well. We are lucky to have people in our new country who think that the 4th of July is worth celebrating!

Wow...what a wonderful thing! It is so nice to hear that you can celebrate both your American herritage and your zest for your new home at the same time. That is how the world should work...
Add this to our list (Jazz Festival)for our trip next summer!! Looks like a great time was had by all.....only thing is your 57 Chevy was a 57 Caddie.
I just showed this to Peter, and he has been there. He said they have some nice fireworks. Perhaps someday we will be there on the 4th.
I keep being out of the country for the 4th - but I have made it to Rebild for the 4th twice and only got rained on ONCE! What I miss is the BBQ and fireworks of my youth. And the running through sprinklers because it's freakin' hot in CA in July. Glad you had a proper hot 4th of July!
