Skanderborg´s The Beautiful Festival is held in a huge beech forest every second weekend i August. I have never seen a concert in a forest, but in my opinion, the forest is the most cosy place to come and listen to good music!
"Den smukke fest" varer 4 dage...og de fleste af mennesker som kommer til den smukke fest overnætter (alle fire dage) i skoven. Det er Danmarks største musik fest og dette år, kom 48000! Anden "impronerende" statistik er hvor meget ØL blev købte i fire dage....Kan du gætte? Husk--mange mennesker bringer deres egen øl og drikker i teltet i stedet for køber øl i festen. I fire dage, blev ca. 180000 litre af øl solgt! (Det er kun øl.... ikke andre alkoholiske drinks!)
The beautiful festival lasts 4 days... and most of the people who come to the festival stay overnight (all 4 days) in the forest. It is Denmark´s biggest music festival and this year, 48,000 were in attendance! Another "impressive" statistic is how much BEER was bought during the four days...Can you guess? Remember--many people actually bring their own beer and drink it in the tent, instead of buying it at the festival. During the four days.... around 18000 liters/4755 gallons! (and this is just beer.... not all the other alcoholic drinks!)

Efter 3 dage i skoven, bliver du måske snavset...og har brug for et bad...After 3 days in the forest, you might get dirty.... and need a bath.....
En "øl cykler bus"...du cykler imens du serveres øl....A "beer bike bus"....you pedal while you are served beer....
Den smukke fest var en sjov tid men det tror jeg at det er ikke for nogen som gammel som jeg! :o) Jeg kunne ikke sove i et telt (uden mit eget badeværelse!) i fire dage men jeg er sikker på at vi vil tage igen i fremtiden for at høre gode musik i skoven!
The Beautiful Festival was a fun time, but I think it is not something for someone as old as me! :o) There is no way I could sleep in a tent (without my own bathroom!) for four days, but I am certain that we will got there again in the future to hear some good music in the forest!

Correction, Sknadborg is Denmark's most beatiful festival, but it's not Denmark's biggest festival.
Roskilde Festival is more than twice as big and is actually the second biggest festival in Europe.
In 2009 the Roskilde Festival had an attendance of 110,000 people according to Wikipedia:

Coldplay who's coming to Herning this Sunday was among the biggest names at Roskilde Festival in 2009.
But you can say Skandborg is Jutland's biggest festival :-)
Or Denmark's second largest festival with Langelandsfestivalen being the third largest festival.
Midtfyns Festivalen in Ringe on Funen used to be the second largest festival in Denmark behind Roskilde and ahead of Skandeborg, but closed after 2003 after competing with Roskilde for the same audience for many years. So now Skanborg has moved up to being the second largest festival in Denmark.

All the tents in a row reminded me of the 3-Day walk we did...Was a little surprised by the bath - I thought this blog was rated G. Hee hee. I think the Danes are just looking for a party to happen - reminds me a little of Texans.

What a great festival! I have to admit...I was looking at the bum! Yes, I am American. LOL Oh, and the Beer bus, what a hoot!

One picture of the naked men in the tub and all the women just sitting around drinking and watching them...now I know why this is called the "Beautiful" fest! LOL!
Oh, and next time Lucy and I come to Denmark, you need to rent her one of of those beer bike buses.
