This pregnant woman has 2 pieces of advice for Denmark.....We have 2 things in America that I believe are GREAT for all pregnant women!
Danmark--hvis du er interresant i mine ideer, ring til mig og jeg kan skabe en plan for at bringe begge to til landet af lille havfrue!
So Denmark--if you are interested in my ideas, call me and I can organise a plan to bring both to the land of the Little Mermaid!

Oh I hear you, I only had a baby shower with Sarah, she was born in the states, the other two in Norway so now shower..no one had heard of them here. BUT...once the baby comes everyone brings you presents..so it's just the party you miss out on.
I'm anxious to hear what you think of the Danish system when it comes to materinty care..I loved having babies in Norway as far as having everything paid for by the government and long stays in the hospital so I could recover from birth before I went home to deal with everyone at home. I really loved it so I'm anxious to hear what you think..and how similar it is to the system here in Norway.
Never ever heard or seen pregnancy parking- that's a bit wimpy don't you think dear??? hahahaha
The last baby shower I went to in the States was mad. Absolutely mad. There were 50 women there! And everyone brought loads of gifts! I think my friend could have had her little girl in the lap of luxury, and outfitted two or three other little girls. Sverre thought baby showers were a silly idea until I asked him, "Do you KNOW how expensive a baby is???"
I missed having those here in Morocco too! It was so different having a baby overseas for me. I went to Spain to have my son, though, and had a fantastic experience! Hopefully the gifts will pour in whether they before or after!
Great ideas for Denmark. Congrats again to you & Mads! :-)
Congratulations! Being newish to the blog, I didn't know, but woohoo and congratulations!!
I'm in for a babyshower!
I think it is a wonderful idea!
I am going to do a post about pre birth celebrations.
We do have bigger parking spaces for cars that have kids in them. And, of course, Stockholm is famous for its gangs of mums out with prams.. You can see them everywhere in cafes and on the pavements...
We don't have baby showers in England either... Still, a good idea!
I have to agree that it is an American tradition that needs to find its way to Denmark! Let me know if Mads is on board and we can start planning! :) We could even do a couples baby shower! AND I for one...loved the Special parking spaces! ;)
A baby shower? Isn't it better to use a bathtub for babies ;-)
Hi Kelli!
I didn't know you were pregnant. I haven't been to a computor during the holiday. CONGRATULATIONS! What great news! I am so happy for you!
Lots of hugs from Ingrid in Århus.
There's no reason for you to give up part of your American culture just because you're in DK. I agree, there should be a baby shower for the little Viking/princess. I'm sure your expat friends would love to go! :)

Oooo I want to go to the baby shower... and I'll bring a baby too!
Hahaha...Peter had the same reaction that Mads did about the baby shower. He thought it was totally crazy until he found out how expensive baby stuff was, and how women just go crazy and buy tons of stuff. Those things can save expectant parents a lot of money!
