Min første smag af Skottland... My first taste of Scotland

Skottland er et FORBLØFFENDE land! Vi nød den hele tur og jeg har masser billeder og masser historier at fortælle men..... jeg syntes at det var hensigtsmæssigt at begynde med "min første smag" af landet af kilt!

Scotland is an AMAZING country! We enjoyed the entire trip, and I have lots of pics and lots of stories to share, but...... I thought it would be appropriate to start with my "first taste" of the land of kilts!

The haggis is lying in the middle of the plate (and NO it did not pass across my lips!) and next to my potato scone (the triangle thing) is something that looks like a lava rock called BLACK PUDDING! At the top of the plate is a bowl of cold English beans and I think you can figure out the rest. So the question of the day?!?! What did Kelli eat for her first breakfast in Scotland?!?! EGGS! Only eggs (which are right next to the sausage).
Vi rejste til Skottland hos RyanAir til prisen af 300 kroner per person og desuden den skottiske morgenmad, tror jeg at du vil ønske at tage til Skottland efter du ser resten af mine billeder!

We flew to Scotland on Ryan Air for a price of 50 dollars a person! Apart from the Scottish breakfast, I think that after you see the rest of my pictures, you will definitely want to book a trip to Scotland!

That is so cheap! I read on the news that you have to pay to use the lavatory on Ryan Air. Is this true?

My mum is Scottish - from Glasgow. After being brought up on black pudding and haggis I had to turn vegetarian in self defence!

The haggis did freak me out as well :( I think Scottish food are weird. Once I heard about deep-fried Mars Bar, I mean talking about WTF food LOL

Well I love Scotland, because it's where I am from, but I wouldn't have eaten the haggis or black pudding either.

Lordy that was a big breakfast- almost Texas size- though I wouldn't have touched the haggis either and the black pudding which is blood pudding I'm guessing- NASTY. I might have tried the potato thingy and the sausage, though it looks terribly greasy. And mushrooms on a breakfast plate- what's up with that? Ok in an omlett, but otherwise, no thanks!!
Can't wait to see the rest of your pics!!! And wow- 50 bucks each!! What did you think of Ryanair? I've heard positive and negative with them...

as long as you do not expect frills (or coffee!!) Ryan Air is great! They have talked about making the potties cost 1 british pound each, but who knows if that will really happen. You also have to plan to take SHORT trips with them... 2 or 3 nights because to get the cheap fares, you cannot check any bags! So you learn to pack light when you fly Ryan! But we went to London for 80USD each in April and now Edinburgh for about 60USD each.. I can pack light for those travel prices anyday! :o) My next goal is to find a cheap fare to Dublin (you can only go from Billund to about 8 places on Ryan, so I intend to see them all!!)

Oh, how I love Scotland. I've been there a couple of times - one time working i Edinburgh, another time sailing from Scotland to Ireland, other times just traveling the Highlands.
I did try the Haggis and actually I found it to be good (you just have to find the right places where they spice it up;o))
It's such a beautiful place with such nice and humoristic people.
Lucky you! And good luck on going to Dublin.

You can check bags, if you pay for each of them and make sure that you've added them before you purchase your ticket. 20 kg and only one bag per person, though. But then you can carry on, I think, 8 kg. Or something. Anyway, we were able to check bags for our England trip, so it must be possible. But then we had a snafu where we had paid for two bags to go but only one to return, so we had to get that straightened out before we left from Billund. Pain in my ass. But OH SO CHEAP!!

And the toilets are still free...

I'm glad you're enjoying being in my homeland but sorry you're not participating fully in the cultural/culinary experience. That breakfast looks good, and say what you like about haggis and black pudding, but they taste better than scrapple!

When I visited Scotland as a senior after I graduated from high school, I woke up in Edinborough and twisted my neck funny. I was in agony. All I remember is my senior AP English teacher giving me some valium that morning and telling me to try and rest. I woke up around 3 in the afternoon, but I missed almost all the sight seeing..everything except our special Scottish dinner where they served haggis. I was so groggy and out of it, I was eating it before I knew what it was. I was mortified when someone told me what I was eating!
