People say that "everything is bigger in Texas", but Finland has changed that!
I lørdags passerede Oasis of the Seas, verdens største krydstogtsfartøj Danmark fra Finland på sin jomfrusrejsen til Florida. Oasis of the Seas er 360 metre lang og 72 metre høj og kan tage mere end 5000 passagerer og mere end 2500 bisætningsmedlemner. Det betyder at skibet er næsten 4 amerikanske fodboldbane lang!
On Saturday Oasis of the Seas, the world´s largest cruiseship passed through Denmark on its maiden journey from Finland to Florida. Oasis of the Sea is 360 meters long and 72 meters tall and can hold more than 5000 passengers and more than 2500 crew members! The ship is almost the length of four football fields!
Oasis of the Seas havde et lille problem da det passerede Danmark..... Storebælt Bro! Skibet er så højt at det var nødvendigt at sænke dens Teleskopiske skorsten så det kunne sejle under Storebælt Bro! De byggede en speciel maskin for at sænke skorsten....lige fordi af Storebælt! Kig video af lørdags sejl... Det er fantastisk!!
Oasis of the Seas had one small problem as it passed through Denmark.... The Storebælt Bridge! The ship is so tall that is was necessary to mechanically lower its smokestack just to pass under the bridge. They actually built a special machine to lower the smokestack....just because of Storebælt! Watch the video of Saturday´s sail....It is fantastic!
Jeg undrer mig hvis der var en Texan i Finland som planlagde at bygge Oasis of the Seas siden vi ved godt at Texans tænker stort!
I wonder if there was actually a Texan in Finland who planned to build Oasis of the Seas since we know Texans think big!!

Did you manage to catch the news coverage on this one? It was a hoot! About ten minutes of talk, and then it was over. Too funny! But that is one HUGE boat!!

Arch - they had to go under that fast, the engines had to be at full throttle so that the ship sat lower in the water or it would've clipped the bridge!
That's awesome... I watched the whole video and went to its website to hear the Cpt speak more. Very exciting... thanks for sharing! :-)
The craziest thing about it was that they had to sail through at full speed because the ship sits lower in the water at higher speeds.
