outdoor activity in Herning has not slowed down.....
People still walk and ride to work, the grocery store, and school.... Because as soon as we get up and see snow on the ground, the county has workers removing snow from the bike paths and the roads. I was shocked the first time I saw those workers clearing snow from the bike paths so everyone could still bike to work each morning!
During winter I would much rather stay inside and never go out! But in Denmark everyone still goes on daily walks with their prams, dogs and just to have some fresh air! When we have temps below freezing in Texas, we stay in ..... Maybe all those years of sleeping outdoors in the pram when they were babies help the Danes to be better prepared for the winter temps?? I don't know... I just know that when I go out with Albert, I have on a ski jacket and have to wear leggings under my jeans, and I am STILL COLD!

Hey - I think I spotted some sun!
Love these pics... we can't stay indoors in Scandinavia just because of the cold, otherwise we'd only be outside for a couple of months a year... ;-)
The Norwegians have a saying: There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. And they say it ALL THE TIME. But it's so true, when it was -25C here a few weeks ago people were still going out and about--walking on the ice on the fjords! And that's cold!!
Kelli, Americans rarely go out- even in the summer. I keep telling people how when we were there in the summer, with warm temps, you didn't see anyone out around my dad's place...it was weird....I think it feels good to come outside after sitting in a warm house or building...it's refreshing!! And Corinne is right, the only thing keeping you from enjoying being outside is the right clothing-so go shopping!!
I don't know if it's early conditioning or the good clothes and boots I'm wearing (Fjällräven, Caterpillar), but I'm honestly not cold when I take out Lia - on the contrary, sometimes I have to pull down my hat and unzip my coat because I get too warm. :)
Ok, you should not be wearing jeans - you will definately freeze, unless they are fleece lined (check out LL Bean). And also wear an undershirt or camisole made of silk and you will be nice and toasty! It has to be silk or won't work.
