How much are burgers in Denmark? Do you think they are as cheap as burgers in America? (and can you remember when McDonalds sold hamburgers for 39cents?!) In Denmark we often have special offers at BK or McD-- For example- The Whopper was "born" in 1954 so right now we have a very special offer of 19.54kr for a Whopper....Yeah, your math skills are correct...That is almost 4bucks! (and remember this is a SPECIAL PRICE!) How hungry are you for a Whopper that costs 4 dollars?
The last time we popped by a McDonald's we did the math. For two Quarter pounder meals, one regular size and one "large" (you get an extra cheeseburger instead of larger fries of drink), it turned out to be around $30. Yaaaaaay, expensive hamburgers....
It's interesting to think about, though, if drive-thru prices were much higher in the States, would obesity be as prevalent? I doubt it.
This reminds me of the Big Mac Index and Burgernomics. You can see that Denmark was in top 5 of the expensive ones in 2009.
Oh yes, when I first traveled to Denmark on business I was so surprised to see how expensive fast food places were! It really IS a treat, rather than just something quick to grab.
Goodness! That would surely slow down my constant fast food consumption. How sad to think that if I moved to Denmark I would actually have to learn to cook.
Sounds cheap to me... (But then, I live in Sweden!)
Is it made of whale?
OH MY WORD!That is crazy!
Fast food prices in the states are rising too though. I'd say a Whopper here is about $3...and most value meals now (after tax) run you almost $7 in the southern US. But food prices in general have risen. Grocery costs are rising too.
Also, fast food prices in say, NYC are much higher than in the south...which again adds to the question as to whether or not cheap fast food prices lead to obesity. The sourthern US is the most obese.
One good thing about the high prices ... people will eat them once in a while in order not to burn a hole in the pocket... lesser chance of obesity
Guess that might be one of the reason that my husband eats fast food once in a blue moon... because it's so expensive in Denmark... he was brought to eat fast food very sparingly as a child... that would be healthier for the country... when i lived in Australia... someone i knew brought her son to macdonalds at least twice a week...
