The Skywalk opened in 2007 and was built by an Asian businessman with the permission of the Hualapai Tribe on the west rim of the Grand Canyon. He is leasing the land from the tribe for 25 years in which time half the profits from visitors go to the businessman, and the other half goes to the tribe. After 25 years, the Hualapai will have full ownership of the Skywalk.
Skywalk åbnede i 2007 og var byggede af en asien forretningsmand med tilladelse af Hualapai Indian Tribe på den vest side af Grand Canyon. Han lejer området fra Hualapai i 25 år og i denne tid, 50% af fortjenesten er hans og 50% er deres. Efter 25 år, skal Hualapai eje Skywalk.
As a part of our helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon, we flew to the Skywalk. It is considered as a sacred area which meant that we could not wear our shoes as we walked out onto it... And we were not allowed to have cameras or cell phones. It was an INCREDIBLY SPECIAL experience to walk 72 feet out from the wall of the Grand Canyon and see the the canyon's floor through the glass bottom of the Skywalk. Så en del af vores helikopter-tur til Grand Canyon, fløj vi til Skywalk. Det er en "sacred area" og vi kunne ikke have vores sko på da vi gik ud på Skywalk... Også kunne man ikke bringe kameraer eller mobil telefoner. Det var en UTROLIG SPECIEL oplevelse for at gå 72feet ud fra Grand Canyons mur...og stå på Skywalk og se ned til Grand Canyons gulvet igennem det glæs gulv af Skywalk.

Unfortunately we arrived too late last year to be on the skywalk. It looked like a great experience for you three.
That skywalk is just amazing! I think I would have fainted from the sheer height!
Very cool - too bad about the sacred part though, would've loved to have seen pictures!
