EVIDENCE THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL GOOD.
1. My friend Kathy (who I grew up with in Wichita Falls, Texas in the EIGHTIES, and who lives in the Netherlands now) and her husband were so helpful in getting us information and good advice while Jess was stranded in Amsterdam for 27 hours! What are the chances that someone I knew in my teens could end up helping us nearly 25 years and 5000 miles later!
2. When Jess left her hotel this morning to go back to Schiphol Airport, a man who was also at the hotel offered to share a cab with her....meaning that they also shared CAB FARE and after all these delays and extra expenses, every little bit helped!
3. After Jess stood in line for THREE+ hours last night at Schiphol in order to get a hotel room from the airlines, we were quite nervous about her chances of getting on a flight today...knowing she would be in line again..for lord only knew how long.
When she arrived at the airport, her only chance to get out of Amsterdam today was to get one of the ELEVEN empty seats that were available at 10am. Well, after standing in line for about an hour and chatting with the guy in front of her from Newcastle (in the UK) the entire time, the line was starting to move....slowly. However she still had no idea if those 11 seats were still available.
The announcement came that all those with BUSINESS CLASS status could move to another newly opened line (with NO wait).
The man who had been chatting with Jess turned to her and said, "Hey, that's me. And business class status allows me to check in myself and one other person. Want to come up there with me?" (Was that a rhetorical question, or what?!)
He takes Jess to the FRONT of the line, tells the agent, "Hey my friend and I have been traveling together, but today she is going to Billund and I am going to Newcastle. Can you check us both in?"
The answer was "of course!"
As she began to process the request, she turned to Jess and said, "You sure are lucky you got up here when you did. I just gave you the last seat to Billund, Denmark!"
All I wanted for Christmas was Jess, home with us...
and thanks to the goodness of others, it happened at 330pm this afternoon.

Lots of prayers were working on Jess' behalf - sometimes during the holidays,the hearts of others are softened and open us all up for wonderful blessings. Merry Christmas - glad your baby girl is there at last!

Did Jess get enough info about this guy to let him know how awesome his generosity was and what a great difference it made? I hope so.
