Today's Riddle:
What does an expat in Denmark say when a good friend moves from California to Prague?
Answer:
This is so exciting that you are in Europe now.... we will have to figure out a time that we can get together even though you are still so far away. I will start watching for flights and see what we can work out in the upcoming months.
WAIT!
But what if the expat in DK is originally from Texas? You know, the state that is the size of 1.5 Germanys; the state in which it takes about 13 hours to drive from one end to the other....
Ahhh....that changes things completely.
Here is how THAT riddle would go:
Today's Riddle:
What does an expat from Texas who is living in Denmark say when a good friend moves from California to Prague?
Answer:
This is SO awesome! Jess is in town in mid-October, so how about if the 3 of us drive down for a long weekend? It's only nine hours, so we can come in on Friday the 14th and stay through the weekend!
So yeah.... we are headed to Prague today to visit Lisa, Kraig and Zach-- Europe's three newest expats, and we cannot wait! The last time we saw them was in July 2010 on "Road Trip 99" through Cali! "Isn't it a small world?", asks the Texan? :-)
(And Albert and Emmitt are JUST as happy because a road trip for us means that Ieva moves in with them for the weekend! It's a win-win for everyone!)

Oh - Prague! I love that city and I'm sure you'll love it too (though coming from somewhere that takes 1hr max to cross from one side to the opposite end, including some traffic, I'm not sure I consider 9hr drives normal!)
So awesome! Glad ya'll are doing this. Say hi to all the new expats :) And have a blast in Prague!
Hey Kelli, enjoy the road trip. You don't get to do those a lot when you are in Europe. But then again driving on the Autobahn is a very different experience than cruising down the interstate in the States :)
A Danish friend and his Czech business partner runs a tour guide company in Prague so if you want some local guiding get in touch with them. They also have a great website with a lot of current stuff going on in Prague at the moment: http://pavel-helge.dk/prag-i-oktober-2011/
I lived in Prague for two years so send me an email if you need any suggestions for jazz clubs, underground music places, beer gardens with the best views, where to go see crazy Czech art etc.
Funny Kelli. As a European who moved to California, I still can't get used to driving for more than a few hours and then I need a break. Orange County to Santa Barbara is as far as I can drive in one sitting. How does Mads feel about driving long distances?
Have a great time!
Road trips are excellent! We Californians have the same attitude towards driving times, too. I can still remember all my weekend trips to Disneyland (only an 8 or so hour drive from where we were in the Bay Area....) Enjoy Prague!

He is an AWESOME driver!! He does not think I drive fast enough on the German highways, so I am just the official navigator.
Plus now that we have a new car, he REALLLLLLLLY loves it!
Haha...I know exactly what you mean about thinking a 9 hour drive is only 9 hours. I am the same way after driving across Canada twice, from Denmark to Italy and back, and about 3,000kms around Ireland. 9 hours in a car seems minuscule really.
