Becoming a Texan

As if THIS:

and THIS:

were not proof enough that my Viking has become a Texan at heart..... I think this morning's conversation will do the trick.

Mads: Can you stop by the store today? I used the last of the Splenda in my coffee this morning.
Kelli: Sure. I will go to Bilka on my way home. Anything else you can think of that we need?
Mads: Not right off-hand, but what are we having for dinner tonight?
Kelli: I don't know. I didn't plan anything on the menu because I thought we were going to Wednesday's Hygge and figured we would just get a pizza.
Mads: We have something every single night this week, so can we just stay home tonight?
Kelli: Of course. So what do you want for supper?
Mads (with a dreamy look in his eyes): I want comfort food.
Kelli: Sounds great. What did you have in mind?
Mads: BREAKFAST!
Kelli (with a look of pride on her face): Then Breakfast for Supper it is!

Curious what breakfast for supper has to do with Texas??? Think it is more a USA thing since I am from San Francisco. Oodles of places that serve breafast 24/7. My favorite is a Belgian waffle, screambled eggs and smoked bacon. Mads sure had a great idea!!!

That is one of the things that means the most to Johnny and I - how we've embraced each other's cultures. I'm lucky to have found a Dane who wants to perfect the art of smoking BBQ and loves Robert Earl Keen! (And he's lucky he found a Texas girl who loves herring and Akvavit :)

Your Dane is truly an American, although I have to say, my American husband has never asked me for breakfast at dinner, so perhaps he's not really American.

I'm still trying to convince Sverre that Breakfast for Dinner is NOT a reversal of all that is Good and Ordered in the world. :P So far I've managed to get "dinner omelets" through. Congrats on getting there with Mads!
