A few of my favorite things.....

Julie Andrews claimed that some of her favorite things are "raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens", and while those things are lovely and nice, for me the list of favorite things looks a bit different..... at least when that list pertains to travel.

I am fortunate enough to have traveled to more than a dozen different countries in Europe and have stayed in hotels in most of them. While I have had the honor of seeing so many ancient relics and world-famous works of art  in those amazing countries, there is one thing that those countries are missing.... HOTELS LIKE WE HAVE IN AMERICA! 

Now, of course, I have found Marriotts and Hiltons in places OTHER than the US, but they are still just not quite the same. Now every time I walk into a REAL AMERICAN HOTEL, I feel like breaking into a Julie Andrews' number....
And for me, it would go something like this:

"Ice buckets for ice cubes and real coffee makers,

big beds with fluffy pillows, not fluffy pillow fakers.

Washcloths and top sheets and incredibly friendly staffers; 

these are a few of my favorite hotel things.

Breakfast foods that I love,

When I start missing my home and my bed, 

I simply walk into my American hotel

and then I don't feel so bad!"
